Departure from Almaty
Meet your English-speaking guide and set off eastward. The drive takes about 3–3.5 hours (220 km). Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of the steppe and mountains, while your guide shares fascinating facts about the region’s nature and culture.
Arrival at Charyn Canyon National Park
Enter the “Valley of Castles” — the most famous part of Charyn Canyon, known for its fantastic rock formations that resemble towers and fortresses.
Guided Walk through the Canyon
Take a 2 km (about 1 hour) hike down into the canyon, surrounded by towering cliffs glowing red and orange in the sun. Your guide will explain the geological history and legends of the canyon.
Picnic Lunch near Charyn River
Enjoy a picnic with snacks and hot tea, surrounded by spectacular canyon views.
Return Hike
Walk back through the canyon to the starting point. (Alternatively, an eco-taxi can be arranged for those who prefer not to walk uphill.)
Scenic Stop at Canyon Viewpoint
Before leaving, visit a panoramic viewpoint to admire breathtaking views of the canyon from above — a perfect photo opportunity.
Departure back to Almaty
Relax and enjoy the drive back through open landscapes and mountain horizons.
